TheTruth About Cloud Channels To Market

The Good, The Bad &The Ugly : What You Need to Know”

Tuesday 10th March: 3:30 - 7:30PM
Ironmongers' Hall, Shaftesbury Place, Barbican, London EC2Y 8AA

“Change is hard because people overestimate the value of what they have—

and underestimate the value of what they may gain by giving that up”.

Flight of the buffalo: james belasco & ralph stayer

Cloud has been disrupting many industries over the past few years, putting many leading brand names out of business as new entrants deliver innovation and commercial advantage to clients.

IT Channels are feeling this swathe of change, as is the IT community in whole. Look at the big vendors (HP, SAP, Intel, Symantec, IBM, EMC and the list goes on) who have made or are making big cuts to adjust to new market dynamics. Vendors, distributors and resellers all have to evaluate and review their value, their routes to market and their business models in this new cloud economy.

Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will be a cloud led initiative, other vendors are switching their focus from on premise software to cloud 1st, cloud cannot be ignored or seen as something that is a 2nd class option any longer.

Come and hear at this important Eurocloud event an open discussion of what the changing dynamics are, the thoughts of the varying players from vendor through to end user and take part and hear from experts on what is to come, what can be done to position the channel as a strength in the cloud world that is expanding fast around us.

All attendees will be provided free 4 detailed whitepapers on Cloud and the channel (Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Reselling Cloud Computing But Were Afraid—or Didn’t Know—to Ask)

The Speakers - and their perspectives

State Of The Nation

Ian Moyse Cloud Channel Expert, Widely published on cloud and channels, will introduce the event and set the scene for the Cloud Channel Challenge.

Why Cloud could destroy channels

Lindsay Smith - Regional Director UK, The York Group: Cloud Channel Expert, argues Cloud has precipitated an ice-age for the SMB channel, lays out survival list: tools, attitude and places to go

The channel adapts

George Dziedzic - CEO & MD, Foster MacCallum International: Cloud Channel Expert, currently responsible for Partner/Channel development programs for many IT vendors including IBM, Cisco, Verizon, Google, SAP, Dell, Red Hat, OpenText, Alcatel-Lucent, Pitney Bowes, NetApp and QlikTech. He looks at the way the channel is adapting to continue to deliver value. Change implies winners and losers, winning is not compulsory.

Reseller Reality – A reseller’s tale

David Mcleman, MD of cloud reseller Ancoris Cloud Channel Expert will openly talk of how he transitioned from a product based business to being a cloud reseller, the pains and the gains and what to consider from commission schemes to vendor alliances and conflicts.

A view through the fog – A Cloud Service Provider's tale

Martin Bradburn - CEO Pea Soup Hosting, Cloud Channel Expert, Entrepreneur, ex-CIO/TD: "...and where a cloud meets the earth it forms a mist, a real pea souper!" - shamelessly plagiarised from www.PeaSoup.net, Martin tells the channel story of a new-to-market Cloud Service Business. In the middle of the value-chain, he's seen the Cloud from both sides now.

The Big Shift

Frank Bennett - Cloud Channel Expert, Author (titles on: GooG & MSFT), Consultant: warns that our technology supply chains are on alert as the Cloud threatens disruption – looking forward, will it be business as usual or is an iTunes like event impending?

Panel Discussion

Following the presentations we will have an open panel discussion featuring all of the speakers. A chance for you to engage and challenge the points raised, debate with the speakers and 'workshop' your own issues.

Finally, make time for the networking after party - your chance to network and talk with the great, the good, the best of UK Cloud. It will be a relaxed and convivial atmosphere in which to introduce yourself; take the market temperature and lay the ground for tomorrow’s alliances and strategic partnerships.

If you are involved in the IT channel, be it as a reseller, vendor, distributor you need to be at this event. A chance to spend a few hours to gain a great level of value and to meet and mix with your peers to understand better the challenges we are all facing and will increasingly have to deal with and to be better equipped to make smart decisions on your own strategy moving forwards.

Entrance is by prior registration only, but is free to EuroCloud members. Non-members are made very welcome - all our members started first by coming to one of our meetings to take a look and assess the value we provide.
